Kids and Thier Affirmations: Confidence Camp 1
The following series of posts will focus on workshops presented at the Toc H Confidence Camp, in Cairns, Australia 2008. It is an annual two-day event for kids in the area to come together, collaborate, learn more about confidence and trust and generally have a fun safe time.
An important aspect of the “I Can do Anything” workshop was the creation of a personal affirmation card. This activity was to be carried out during the workshop to engage the child in thinking about what it was to “think positive”.
positive thinker = problem-solver

Why Be a Positive Thinker?
•Self-doubt happens when we do not feel confident.
•EVERYBODY experiences self-doubt.
•Disappointments and mistakes can make us doubtful of our ability to keep going or to reach our goal.
•When we feel scared or confused our feelings and thoughts become negative.
•There may be too many choices, or not enough options or no time to consider possibilities.
•Feelings (emotions) and thoughts (cognitions) are a mystery that humans try to understand.
•What we do know is that positive thinking can affect how well we communicate with others and seek our goals.
•What we believe in guides our choices.
•Sometimes, feelings and thoughts can be choices too. More than we realise.
•Thinking about the POSITIVES of a situation creates choices.
•Shine YOUR light on 3 positives of the last time something didn’t happen as you hoped it would.

Hi Char
I wish a workshop like this was around when I was growing up. It took me a very long time to do what I love and feel confident about it. I teach my kids every day that they can do whatever they want as long as they put their heart and soul in it, and so far it is working :-}
