Where’s Your Mindset At? Student Learning Anxiety
Often, students who contact me for essay help are in a panic over how to get their assignment done on time, and at a high standard. My first priority as a tutor and mentor is to help them to Calm~ emotions can get in the way of what we want to achieve.
Michael over at lifebeginzatpoetry has written a poem about banks, timely given the global financial shake-up we are now experiencing. His commentary is useful for panicking students methinks:
“what is the nature of your ‘emotional-psychological investment? The logic of investments presupposes ‘returns’, usually of the positive kind. It is critical that you pay disciplined attention to your state of Mind. To put it another way; where are you investing your emotional capital?”
Where is your emotional capital being spent when you have an assignment deadline? Are you investing your emotions, and thus time, in a positive and proactive way? How do you get yourself back on track when you find your emotions of panic and confusion getting in the way of study, work and your personal life?
