Get Organized! Holland’s Hexagon reveals personality strengths

Today I wanted to write a little more about Holland’s Hexagon model for thinking about a career. His aim was to make the choice of what field or industry to focus on for an income, less overwhelming.
Holland’s Hexagon divides “occupational personality” into 6 broad categories:
1. Realistic
2. Investigative
3. Artisitc
4. Social
5. Enterprising
6. Conventional
And Holland divied up work environments into 6 types as well:
Each category for occupational environment contains careers that are made up of similar personality traits (also known as Themes).
Themes indicate similarity/dissimilarity with other Themes.
Traits cluster within occupational Themes that are closest together on the Hexagon; they are the Themes that are most strongly related. Themes at the other side of the Hexagon contain the least similar traits to their opposites.
As stated by Steve Goetz, Lecturer for Counselling for Career Planning at Orange Coast College,
For example, Realistic careers are related in some ways to Investigative careers. Enterprising and Social careers relate in some ways also. The career areas situated directly next to one another have related qualities. In contrast, Investigative careers are most unlike Enterprising careers. Those directly across the hexagon from one another have the least similar characteristics.
